    Tele-conferencing trouble

I am evaluating LM as a potential alternative to Webex and is facing the following problem:

I have an exec. assistant who supposed to schedule separate LM Meetings for multiple presenters. There is no built-in teleconferencing support in LM so we have to use a 3rd party provider who gave us bunch of toll-free numbers/teleconferencing host codes. Each time exec assistant needs to allocate a toll free number to each of the meetings/presenters and I see no way to do it automatically in LM (allocate numbers from the pool of numbers) or at least have multiple templates for teleconferencing options to choose from (there is only one default).

This is a bug hurdle and I wonder how others resolved the issue?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi TheTechie

It shouldn't be a big hurdle for you.  Which country are you in?  When you buy Live Meting 2005 or 2007, your reseller should provide you with a telephone conferencing account that is integrated with Live Meeting.  You will need to confgure the audio settings in your web admin, but your reseller should be able to help you with this.  Once your conference provider, conference code and leader pin has been entered in those settings, you will be all set.

Without knowing your provider, e.g. Verizon, Intercall, BT etc, I can't tell you exactly regarding the arrangements for freephone numbers and local acess codes etc.  But for my account, I have a big list of numbers for each country and I can decide whether I want to use them, or not.  If you use the numbers, you pay for the service.

Here's an aricle on setting up audio for Live Meeting

Let me know if you need more help wih this.

Thanks Chirs, this is helpful. I have an office in Toronto, ON, Canada, and Boston, MA

I have several toll free accounts with Rogers, ie. there is an different number/leader code/participant code for each user in our company. Maybe there is another provider that is better integrated?

I am puzzled where I would enter this information so that the secretary could log in and organize separate meetings for different people and each of them received the right number. For a user account, there is a way to enter one number in Meetings Settings screen.

One solution, I thought, if the secretary each time logs in using presenter's credentials, and set up a meeting for him. The problem, this requires her to know the logins of all presenters she assists.

    Thoughts?

    Re: Tele-conferencing trouble

We just tried the scenario where exec assistant accesses shared calendars via Outlook and selects Schedule a Live Meeting. Unfortunately, the meeting invitation contains the defaults of the exec administrator, and not the person the calendar belongs to. It makes it very difficult for the exec assistant to book LiveMeetings on behalf of other people and provide correct phone conferencing info; so I contacted MS techsupport to submit a feature request

    Hi "The Techie"

One of the enhancements that is in the system is to allow proxy scheduling, e.g. a personal assistant can switch identities to take on attributes of another persons account in LM. Currently I have no information as to when or if this will be built in, but my suggestion would be as you commented, feed back the importance for your company to our support department.

The more requests the more likely it will happen

    Thank

    Simon
